Twins, Birth Order, and Childhood Survival: Evidence from Large-Scale Genealogical Data

The primary focus of this study is to assess the effect of family size on lifespan. We use large-scale genealogical data to investigate birth order and childhood survival. We find that siblings with younger twin siblings live substantially longer than their counterparts without younger twin siblings.
